SAP Labs Software Developer Intern Interview Experience

Anonymous3 weeks ago

Role: Software Developer Intern

Application route: Applied online (Off-campus)

Location: India

Overall difficulty: Medium

I applied for the SAP Labs Software Developer Intern role during my 3rd year through the off-campus process.

The interview process focused on programming fundamentals, DSA, Java/OOPs, DBMS, and projects.

Round by Round Experience

Online Assessment | Coding questions: 2

The online assessment included coding problems along with technical questions.

I don’t remember the exact coding problems, but they were mainly based on arrays, strings, sorting/searching, and basic dynamic programming. The questions were around easy to medium difficulty, and optimizing the initial approach was important.

You can try practicing problems with similar patterns to prepare for this round.

Technical Interview | Difficulty: Medium

The technical interview started with questions about my introduction, academic background, and projects.

The DSA discussion included an array/string-based problem, followed by questions about time and space complexity and possible optimizations.

The interviewer then moved towards Java and OOPs, including concepts such as inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, interfaces, method overloading/overriding, and exception handling.

There were also questions around DBMS and SQL, including joins, keys, normalization, and writing basic queries.

The project discussion covered the architecture of my project, technologies used, my contribution, and some of the challenges I faced while developing it.

Final Result

The interview gave me useful exposure to a real software engineering hiring process. However, I did not make it through the final selection.

Final result: Not selected
