TCS Digital On-Campus Interview Experience
Company: TCS – Tata Consultancy Services
Role: TCS Digital
Application Through: TCS NQT - On-Campus
Interview Date: 22 August 2026
Mode: Offline
Difficulty: Medium
I appeared for the TCS NQT on-campus recruitment process for the TCS Digital role. The overall selection process consisted of an online assessment followed by a personal interview. The interview mainly focused on Java, OOPs, SQL, basic coding, and HR/company-related questions.
Round-by-Round Experience
Online Assessment
The online assessment consisted of Aptitude and Coding sections.
I performed well in both sections. The coding questions were manageable with a good understanding of basic data structures and problem-solving.
The coding problems I encountered included:
Removing duplicate elements from an array
Combining two linked lists in ascending order
The aptitude section covered the usual areas of numerical and logical problem-solving.
Overall, I found the assessment to be of medium difficulty.
Technical Interview
Duration: Approximately 45 minutes Mode: Offline
The technical interview focused mainly on Java, OOP concepts, coding, and SQL.
Coding
The interviewer asked me to write a coding solution of my choice. I was given the flexibility to choose a problem and demonstrate my approach and coding ability.
The coding discussion was used to understand my problem-solving approach and programming fundamentals.
Java and OOP Questions
Some of the questions asked were:
Why is Java platform independent?
What is polymorphism?
What is encapsulation?
Write a program demonstrating encapsulation.
Explain the concepts used in the code.
The interviewer was interested in understanding whether I knew the concepts clearly rather than simply memorizing definitions.
SQL
I was also asked to write SQL queries. The questions were based on basic SQL concepts and query-writing ability.
The technical discussion was primarily centered around Java, OOPs, coding, and SQL.
HR / Managerial Discussion
After the technical discussion, the interview moved toward HR and general questions.
Some of the questions asked were:
Tell me about yourself.
Why do you want to join TCS?
Who was the first CEO/leader of TCS?
Who is the current CEO of TCS?
When was TCS founded?
Questions related to my leadership experience.
Since I had mentioned my club activities and leadership responsibilities, the interviewer asked follow-up questions related to leadership.
I explained my experience in handling responsibilities, coordinating activities, and working with other students.
The company-related questions were particularly important because they tested whether I had researched TCS before attending the interview. TCS was established in 1968, while the current CEO & MD is K. Krithivasan.
Projects
Interestingly, I was not asked any questions about my projects during the interview.
The interview instead focused more on: Java OOPs Coding SQL HR questions TCS-related questions Leadership and extracurricular activities Overall Experience
The interview lasted around 45 minutes and was conducted offline.
I felt that the overall difficulty was medium. The technical questions were mainly based on fundamental concepts rather than advanced topics. Having a clear understanding of Java, OOPs, SQL, and basic coding helped me handle the technical discussion.
The HR portion also included questions about TCS and my extracurricular activities. Since I had mentioned my club involvement, the interviewer explored my leadership experience through follow-up questions.
Overall, the interview was a combination of technical fundamentals, coding, SQL, company knowledge, and behavioral questions.
Final Outcome
I was selected for the TCS Digital role through the on-campus TCS NQT recruitment process.
