Data Engineer Interview

Sharing my IBM Data Engineer interview experience. My process was fairly short and had two main stages, an online coding assessment followed by a recorded video assessment.

I couldn't make it through the process, but sharing what I faced in case it helps someone preparing for a similar role.

Online Coding Assessment

The process started with an online assessment where I received two coding questions. Both were around easy to medium difficulty. The main challenge wasn't solving something very advanced, but getting the logic right and completing both within the given time.

After clearing this stage, I moved to the recorded assessment.

Recorded Video Assessment

This part was quite different because there wasn't an interviewer sitting on the other side.

Questions appeared on the screen, and I had a limited amount of time to prepare and record my response.

Most of them were around my previous experiences and how I handled different situations. Some of the questions were along the lines of:

• Tell us about a challenging situation you faced and how you handled it.

• Describe a project or experience you are proud of.

• What technical skills are you most comfortable with?

• Tell us about a time you had to learn something quickly.

Since the responses were recorded, I had to keep my answers clear and structured without making them sound memorized.

Verdict

I didn't move forward after the recorded video assessment.
