I Was Getting Rejected While Everyone Around Me Got Placed. Then Came Uber.
Hey! I’m Himanshu, currently working as a Software Engineer at Uber, where I work on storage technologies. But getting here wasn't exactly a smooth ride.
When DSA Didn’t Feel Like My Strength
I wasn't very confident in my DSA skills when I started preparing. The TUF SDE Sheet, especially the 15 Days Complete Sheet, changed that for me.
I remember solving questions that felt completely “Uber level” and thinking, “Wait… did I actually solve that?”
Every problem I cracked slowly gave me more confidence.
The Preparation That Started Making Sense
I kept my preparation simple:
Completed the TUF SDE Sheet properly
Focused on understanding patterns instead of memorising solutions
Solved consistently and revised regularly
Built confidence one problem at a time
And the best part? Some of the patterns I practised showed up in my actual interviews too.
When Everyone Else Was Getting Placed
My placement journey wasn't smooth.
There was a phase when almost everyone around me was getting placed while I was still facing rejection after rejection with no offer in hand. It was frustrating, stressful, and honestly difficult at times.
But I kept going.
The Breakthrough
Eventually, things changed. I secured the opportunity I was waiting for and today, I'm a Software Engineer at Uber, working on storage technologies and solving core computer science problems every day.
Looking back, those rejections were just part of the story. They weren't the ending.
What I Would Tell My Juniors
Start early. Seriously.
Don't wait until your third or fourth year to begin preparing. A little effort every day compounds into massive confidence over time.
And remember:
Consistency beats intensity.
If you're still waiting for your breakthrough, don't give up. Sometimes, all it takes is one opportunity to change everything.
