I Didn’t Stop After Getting My First Offer

I’m Aditya Choudhary a Software Engineer at Uber, and I joined last year. My journey with DSA started when one of my seniors suggested Striver’s channel and it ended up becoming one of the most useful resources in my preparation.

Finding the Right Guidance

Striver’s playlists helped me tackle some of the tougher DSA topics like Graphs, Trees, DP, and Tries. I started with the SDE Sheet, which gave me both a structured roadmap and the confidence to take on advanced problems.

Practising Beyond the Sheet

After completing the SDE Sheet, I kept practising throughout problems and gave contests. This regular practice helped me become comfortable with different problem patterns and eventually helped me handle coding questions in OAs and interviews.

Choosing to Aim Higher

I already had a decent pre placement offer from ServiceNow, but I wanted to challenge myself further.

The journey wasn't without setbacks. I faced rejections from companies like CRED and DE Shaw, but every interview helped me understand common patterns, expectations, and areas I needed to improve.

The Uber Opportunity

When Uber announced an off campus drive for our batch, I decided to give it a shot.

The OA had 3 questions in 60 minutes, with the first two being medium hard and the third being more challenging. I managed to solve all three and got shortlisted for the interviews.

Cracking the Interviews

The process had 4 rounds:

  • 2 DSA rounds with problems and variations

  • 1 Low Level Design round

  • 1 Managerial round

The expectation throughout was clear: come up with optimal solutions, write modular and working code, and communicate your thought process properly.

After two weeks of interviews, I finally received the Uber offer.

What Worked for Me

My biggest takeaway is that consistent problem solving matters more than simply solving a large number of questions.

Follow a structured roadmap, understand the patterns, practise regularly, and learn from every interview, even the ones you don't clear.

Every rejection and every problem solved added up to the confidence I needed when the right opportunity came along.
